It's incredible the attention you pay to detail.
At a first glance I thought it was Optimus in the bottom of the page. Then I saw Optimus right behind there, and noticed all the evil curly things in the bottom robot and said "this can't be Optimus, it must be some evil robot". Then I noticed the forehead crest and the shoulder mounted canon and realized it was Soundwave. All of this BEFORE I have seen the "Soundwave wannabe" annotation right under it, LOL
Not only him, but it's nice to recognize some other characters in their beast forms. You sir are a true master of design and I hope Hasbro give you proper attention in the future. Unfortunately not many people can recognize a real comic artist when they see one, but the big companies should.
Another thing: I remember when you said that you were having fun doing the Universe comics. Just by seeing these pieces from HoS I can tell you're having much more fun than that, because these pages are telling me so. Congratulations, because you deserve it. I've always told you that.
*ahem* one last thing: are they at least hiring an good inker to work with you in this project? They should, because it would be a shame to destroy such a beautiful pencil work with crappy inks or not inking it at all...
Makoto I really appreciate your words.... it's cool how very often I said similar things about you drawing the best transformers around! I mean, you draw the *real* Transformers, as from directly from the '80... if it was for me I wouldn't go so far in this "redesign galore" in recent comics!
I'm sure that readers would love to have a TF comic entirely drawn with your "anime" style, nobody would complain!
about inks: issue 1 was all inked by me, but because all those details, crosshatching and blacks, it was really time consuming and causing delays. So by issue 2 there will be another inker, it looks good.
Oh well, perhaps I should move in doing only covers/illustrations and put everything I want in my drawings...
Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
